Spring Cleaning Made Easy

March 25, 2021 2 min read

Spring cleaning sponges, cleaning products and basket.

For a lot of us, March sparks that feeling of new life, freshness, and – you guessed it – spring cleaning! There’s just something so cathartic about getting rid of what we don’t need and expelling dirt, dust, and general “ick” from our lives.

I’m a pretty busy lady, so when it comes to my home and my belongings, I definitely veer toward a minimalist mantra of “less to manage, less to maintain.” I find that truly enjoying my space means being able to see the space I have and utilize it well.

Ready to get down to business and declutter in ways that beautify your space and de-complicate your life? This week, we’re sharing four ways to get your declutter on. They’re some spring-cleaning ideas you may have passed over in the past… and plus a little tough love for those of us who need it. First up is our most commonly used spaces - kitchens & bathrooms!

Cleaning Up Your Kitchen & Bathroom

They’re the easiest places to find clutter. However, these tips have really been making a difference in my space:

  1. Fight the dreaded container drawer. Keep unruly lids in mail sorters.
  2. Use a wine rack to keep water bottles in check.
  3. Get rid of those mugs. You have too many. You know who you are.
  4. Get rid of old medicine. Most local pharmacies have great programs for taking back medicine you no longer need or prescriptions that are too old (but might be dangerous to throw away).
  5. Old nail polish. If it’s crusty, older than a few years, or is simply not your color, throw it out.
  6. Self-care gifts. You know the ones. Bath bombs and face masks and makeup that scares your skin but was gifted to you. You’re not going to use it, so go ahead and let it go.
