Abaca, Musa textiles, a close relative of the banana plant. Harvesting abaca is labor-intensive. Each stalk must be cut into strips, which are then usually scraped by hand to remove the pulp. The long white fibers are then washed and sun-dried. Abaca fiber is strong, durable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly.
